Editing protection for flights with a closed Journey Log

Editing protection for flights with a closed Journey Log

When a Journey Log is closed, Leon will now automatically protect the associated flight
from accidental edits or cancellations.

How it works

Once a Journey Log is closed, the flight it belongs to becomes read-only in the OPS module. It cannot be edited or cancelled:

  • All tabs in the right-side OPS panel for that leg are disabled (JL, FW, Crew,
    PAX, W&B, Trip, etc.).

  • The Trip tab is disabled if at least one leg in the trip has a closed JL.

  • Delete flight button is disabled.

  • Any attempt to save changes triggers a hard validation error — it cannot be
bypassed, even with the "ignore warnings" option.

All fields are disabled and cannot be edited until JL is opened again.

Configuration

Enable the permission for the right user group

Only users whose group has the Allow editing of closed Journey Logs setting turned on will be able to re-open a closed JL.

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Privileges.

  2. Select the group you want to configure.

  3. Open the Settings tab.

  4. Find "Allow editing of closed Journey Logs" and toggle it on.

  5. Click Save.

Users in this group will now see the "Re-open Journey Log" button in the OPS panel.

Closing a Journey Log

There are two ways to close a Journey Log: manually or automatically.

Option 1 — Manual closure

To close a JL manually, the Status field must be enabled in your Journey Log
configuration first.

Enable the Status field:

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Journey Log.

  2. In the fields list, find Status and make sure it is enabled.

Close the JL on a flight:

  1. In OPS, open the flight and go to the JL tab.

  2. Find the Status field.

  3. Change the value to Closed.

  4. Save the Journey Log.

The flight is now protected — all tabs in the OPS panel become read-only.

Option 2 — Automatic closure

You can configure Leon to close Journey Logs automatically after a set period of
inactivity, without any manual action required.

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Journey Log > Additional settings.

  2. Set the "Close JL automatically after" field to the desired number of hours.

  3. Save your changes.

The JL will close automatically once all required fields are filled in and the
specified time has passed since the last edit. If re-opened, the countdown restarts.

Re-opening a closed Journey Log

If you need to correct data or cancel a flight with a closed JL, you can re-open it —
provided you have the right permission.

Steps to re-open:

  1. In OPS, click the flight whose JL you want to re-open.

  2. In the Journey Log panel, locate the "Re-open Journey Log" banner at the top.

  3. Click the "Re-open Journey Log" button.

  4. The panel reloads. All tabs are now editable again.

  5. Make your corrections and save.

If the TRIP section remains blocked after reopening the Journey Log, it means at least one leg of the trip is still blocked.

If the banner is not visible, your user group does not have the Allow editing of closed Journey Logs permission. Contact your system administrator to have it enabled.
